For those of you who follow or are thinking the paleo diet, you all know the importance of planning your paleo meals. It can be the difference between success and failure due to the diet's restriction of certain foods. Many who are thinking of starting out on a paleo plan find it challenging when it comes to planning their meals and with good reason. Before we go into how to begin the planning process let us look back at the foods we are allowed to eat and the ones we are told to avoid.
The paleo diet is based on the foods our ancestors ate. Many years ago, when our ancestors inhabited the earth, they ate the foods that were available to them. Foods like meat from wild animals they hunted, fruits and vegetables from plants they came across, seafood from water sources they stumbled upon and so forth. Their diet consisted of just these type of foods. You might be wondering about other foods like milk from animals, grains from crops and so forth. You see, our ancestors were hunter gatherers who moved from place to place, utilizing the nutrients they found. Because they didn't stay in one place for long, there was no time to plant such other crops, and in fact, it wasn't until 10,000 years ago that humans formulated agriculture. The paleo diet in turn, is based on those lean meats and fruits and vegetables our ancestors ate, because our bodies have adapted to eating those foods.
When it comes to your paleo meal planning, the best strategy is to always do everything ahead of time, especially if you have a full time job (There is nothing worse than hurrying to pack up a paleo breakfast when you have to be at work early in the morning). I recommend doing mini preparations on a sunday evening for breakfast and lunch for the following week. I say breakfast because those are the meals that you won't have much time in the day to prepare. Dinner, on the other hand is easier to handle because once you are home, you have time to experiment a little.
Another tip is to treasure your leftovers. Never throw away food, pack it up and put it in the fridge. The leftovers can be used for a quick paleo breakfast or lunch. Also, when you are preparing dinner, always prepare much more that what is needed so that you have a sufficient amount leftover. The major foods I usually keep as leftovers are steaks, chicken, and even hamburgers (The meats take the longest to prepare). They are excellent for quickie meals for the next day.
For breakfast, hard boiled eggs with vegetables and fruits are the most commonly eaten, since it's the easiest to make. Scrambled eggs are great too if you have time to prepare it. Unfortunately, many people get tired of eating eggs all the time so if that's the case, you can make a quick shake for breakfast. What I usually do is I throw fruits that I have available into the blender, mix in some almond milk and a scoop of whey protein with a few ice cubes and blend them together. It takes about 5-10 minutes and it's quite delicious.
Lunch doesn't really take some thorough meal planning because like most people, you would be at work. A salad and a fruit make a perfect lunch. My salads usually include chicken, lettuce, onions, and bell peppers. For dressing I use olive oil to give it some flavor. Lunch is the less stressful part of your paleo meal planning because you can find a plate of salad at any fast food or convenience store. You can even make some pot roast or meat chili the night before and take that to work in a container if you want to switch things up a little.

By writing this article, I am assuming that those who are reading it are already familiar with the paleo diet and are thinking of officially adopting it. Well, the diet comes with a big list of do's and don'ts, what to eat and not what to it. It sounds complicated when I say It but it's actually quite easy to follow, albeit challenging.
The concept of the paleo diet is quite easy, you eat what the early humans ate. Now, before you pull out your guns and run in guns blazing, be aware that you are setting yourself up for disaster if you don't have a paleo diet meal plan. Those who have carelessly done so have ended up quitting the diet just a few days later.
If you are lazy like me, then you know that having to adopt a new diet also requires having a cookbook, unless you want to spend hours researching ingredients. When you are shopping with your selected cookbook, make sure to buy more ingredients than you need. It'll save you from having to make multiple trips to the grocery store every time you want to prepare a meal. Being lazy and winging it will not help because in most cases you might end up eating uncooked meals which could have some serious health consequences. It might sound very tedious and boring, but having a paleo diet meal plan is a must.
With your paleo plan, you will want to map out your meals for a few weeks. You can even look online for some ready made meal plans or make yours if you feel like experimenting. You don't have to obsess about it, just make sure to have a general idea of the meals that will get you through the following weeks. Also make sure that you have enough resources for breakfast, lunch, dinner and snacks. A very helpful way to do this is to always prepare your meals in excess. Always make extra food so that you have leftovers, they will be a key factor in your meal plan, especially if you have a full time job with very little free time. Make sure to have some snacks in your purse of bag so that you can snack on them when you get hungry. Also remember to include a variety of foods so that you don't get bored of food repetition.
It is important to always start your paleo diet meal plan with foods that you are familiar and can prepare easily. But that doesn't mean that you should only stick with those foods, gradually introduce new foods to your meal plan till you get used to preparing them before you bring in more, and so forth. Make sure to do this weekly so you can stay organized. Remember, the most important thing about this diet and possibly a key to success is having variety. It is very easy to get bored when you are eating the same things all the time, so having variety will always spice things up. We are lucky to have luxuries such as grocery stores and a paleo diet meal plan, the paleolithic man wasn't so fortunate. He literally had to create new meals out of foods that were available, so if he can do it, they you definitely can.

If you have ever been on a diet then you know how difficult it can be to stick to the diet program. Sometimes we give up and end up blaming ourselves for not having the courage or endurance to complete the program. Lets face it, diets are hard, and finding the perfect one to suit your needs is even harder. But a paleo meal planner might just be the choice for you, it's easy to implement and can be a real eye opener.
The paleo diet comes has its origins from the diet of caveman, or the diet of the paleolithic man. During that time, anything that was available and edible were eaten. Unfortunately, today we have uncovered many choices of foods to eat that we end up eating foods that cause health issues. This is our bodies have no adapted to eating these newly discovered foods. The caveman on the other hand, ate foods that was purely natural. Foods nature herself produced with no assistance from man.
In order to prepare yourself mentally and physically for the diet, you will need to have a paleo meal planner. This works in mapping out the type of foods that you want to eat the following day or week. Sometimes, this planning is best done on a sunday before the week starts. By doing so you will save yourself a lot of time because you will already have something prepared. Not only that, it will help you stay on track and keep you organized.
It is recommended to invest in a paleo cookbook so that you never have to worry about repeating the same meals. Repetition is a problem many beginners face and it often causes them to lose hope and quit. With a recipe book, you will always have access to delicious paleo recipes that can be served not only to your family, but to friends and guests as well. In fact, you might even be motivated to create recipes of your own.
While on the paleo diet, you will not have to watch your weight or count your calories. The diet is not a starvation diet, in fact, you can eat as much as you want, as long as its foods that are acceptable on the diet program. One advantage is that you will be receiving a lot of protein rich meals which will keep your hunger at bay while also satisfying you and making you full. You will also notice that you won't become hungry as easily as before as your body adapts to the new intake of foods. This is what allows you to really lose weight.
One thing to keep in mind is that it will take your body a while to adjust to the new diet, and it may be challenging at first. But as you follow your paleo meal planner, it will eventually become a habit your body will get used to.
